I am demanding that you immediately initiate impeachment proceedings against President Trump and Stephen Miller for their dangerous and unconstitutional actions regarding Greenland that are destroying our NATO alliances and threatening national security. Senator Jeanne Shaheen just returned from Denmark where she witnessed firsthand the damage these reckless threats have caused. She reported a "real sense of betrayal by the United States" among Danish and Greenlandic leaders who have been our steadfast allies for over a century. Danish soldiers bled and died alongside Americans in World Wars I and II and in Afghanistan, losing troops at rates comparable to our own losses. This administration has repaid their sacrifice with threats of territorial aggression. The situation has deteriorated so severely that UK Prime Minister Keir Starmer felt compelled to publicly remind the United States that "any decision about the future status of Greenland belongs to the people of Greenland and the Kingdom of Denmark alone." When our closest allies must lecture us on basic principles of sovereignty and self-determination, we have crossed a dangerous line. Senator Shaheen made clear that Vladimir Putin and President Xi are the only world leaders celebrating this crisis because it accomplishes exactly what they want: the fracturing and potential collapse of NATO. Miller and Trump are handing our adversaries a strategic victory without them firing a single shot. Threatening the territorial integrity of a NATO ally is not just poor diplomacy. It is a betrayal of our constitutional obligations and an impeachable offense. Every day you delay action is another day of damage to relationships that took generations to build. The time for measured responses has passed. I expect you to act immediately to remove these individuals from power before they inflict irreparable harm on American security and standing in the world.
