An Open Letter

To: Sen. Blackburn, Sen. Hagerty, Rep. Burchett

From: A constituent in Maryville, TN

April 16

Congress do your job! We have three branches of government in this country; the executive, the legislative, and the judicial. One branch is not above the other, a system of checks and balances was instituted to prevent one branch from assuming too much power. But right now, the executive branch is flouting the constitution and the other two branches. The executive does mot make laws, that is the domain of the legislative branch. The executive branch cannot flout the judiciary. But right now, those two things are happening. The judiciary has ordered someone who was wrongly deported to be returned to the United States. The executive branch has refused to comply. The legislative branch must step on to bring the executive back in line with law and the constitution. The executive branch continues to take powers on themselves that belong to the legislative branch, and congress stands idly by and allows that to happen. We are on the knife’s edge of becoming a totalitarian regime. Congress can stop this from happening, but congress must act. If you are too timid or unwilling to, then step aside. If you refuse to act you will be complicit in the destruction of democracy. Act now or step aside. There is no room here for cowards or traitors.
