Subject: Upholding the Constitution Is Your Duty — No Exceptions

To: Sen. Fetterman, Sen. McCormick, Rep. Kelly

From: A constituent in Erie, PA

April 21

When a President defies the courts or oversteps the limits of executive power, it is not just a political crisis — it is a constitutional emergency. Your role in such moments is not optional. It is your sworn duty. The Constitution grants Congress the authority and the responsibility to hold the Executive Branch accountable. That includes taking action — including impeachment and removal from office — when a President refuses to abide by the rule of law. If the courts make a lawful ruling and the President defies it, that is not a policy disagreement. That is a blatant assault on the separation of powers. You did not take your oath to serve only when it is easy or politically convenient. You took that oath knowing it might someday require courage. That day may be here — and fear of political retaliation or backlash cannot excuse inaction. If the President places himself above the law, and Congress fails to respond, then the damage is not just to the office of the presidency — it is to the very foundation of our democracy. Do your job. Uphold your oath. The country is watching.
