Support Impeachment for Threatening War Crimes Against Iran

To: Sen. Slotkin, Rep. Moolenaar, Sen. Peters

From: A constituent in Mount Pleasant, MI

April 8

I'm calling on you to support impeachment proceedings against President Trump for threatening to commit war crimes against Iran. On Tuesday, he came within two hours of bombing Iranian power plants and bridges, threatening that "A whole civilization will die tonight, never to be brought back again." UN Secretary-General António Guterres reminded all parties that attacking civilian infrastructure is banned under international law, yet Trump stated he was "not at all" concerned about being called a war criminal. This wasn't an empty threat. B-52 bombers were already en route to Iran when Pakistan brokered a last-minute ceasefire. Hours before his deadline, US and Israeli forces struck Iranian infrastructure, including bridges and power facilities. Iran's UN representative correctly characterized Trump's threats as "incitement to war crimes and potentially genocide." A president who openly threatens to destroy civilian infrastructure and dismisses international law has violated his oath of office. The ceasefire doesn't erase his willingness to commit atrocities against millions of civilians. Congress has a constitutional duty to hold him accountable. Support impeachment now.
