Protect Educators' Right to Teach Complete, Honest History

To: Gov. Whitmer, Sen. Anthony, Rep. Witwer

From: A constituent in Potterville, MI

August 27

Take action to protect and expand educators' ability to teach complete, accurate history in our schools. Students who graduate with only a partial version of history are unprepared to understand the world, engage across difference, or recognize the systems that shape their lives. That's not education — it's a disservice. As an advocate for honest history, I see this gap clearly. Accurate history isn't political indoctrination — it means teaching what actually happened, whose voices shaped events, and how the past's legacies influence the present. Students deserve curricula that reflect the full range of human experience, not a sanitized version that leaves them less equipped to lead.
