An Open Letter

To: Sen. Fetterman, Rep. Thompson, Sen. McCormick

From: A constituent in Sheffield, PA

October 11, 2025

I'm writing to express my deep disappointment and concern about your support for SB 2296. As a constituent, I'm disheartened to see you prioritize harmful rhetoric over the well-being of our community, particularly the transgender community. I'd like to respectfully remind you that your role is to serve the people, not the other way around. It's your duty to protect and advocate for all constituents, regardless of their background or identity. It's also important to recall history. During World War II, the Nazi regime targeted marginalized groups, including those who would identify as LGBTQ+ today. The trans community has faced persecution and violence throughout history. Let's learn from the past and work towards a more inclusive future. I urge you to reconsider your stance on SB 2296 and instead support policies that promote equality, dignity, and human rights for all. I hope you'll prioritize the needs and voices of your constituents moving forward.
