I am disturbed by recent federal and state cuts to funding for the West Virginia Humanities Council, and specifically concerned about continued hosting of the West Virginia Encyclopedia. Both the council and encyclopedia are invaluable resources for those who want to learn about our history and who want to make common sense decisions about balancing development and preservation, attracting tourists, and promoting Appalachian pride. Please immediately address these funding gaps, and keep West Virginia history from disappearing.
