I’m calling on you to support HR 3565, the resolution blocking the planned $735 million sale of bombs to Israel. The United States should not be sending weapons to the Israeli government as they starve the people of Gaza and deploy our resources to target international media outlets, schools, hospitals, humanitarian missions, aid workers, and civilian sites for bombing. Every day, Israel uses our money and weapons to commit atrocities against civilians that violate international and U.S. law. You have the power to help save the millions of people trapped in Gaza, being starved, shot, and bombed, and there is no excuse not to use that power. These people are dying slowly, without proper medical care, of malnourishment, untreated diseases, and wounds that their bodies are too weak to heal. There are no more resources after months of a humanitarian blockade; infants are starving as we speak because there is no formula and their mothers are either dead or too malnourished to produce breastmilk. These same infants and their entire families are then being bombed while living in tents for the displaced, with their homes having been reduced to rubble. Hundreds of people have been shot or kidnapped after being lured to “aid distribution sites” that have been condemned by just about every humanitarian group you can think of, including the UN. We can’t continue to act like this is just, or like we have no power to stop it. We demand that you co-sponsor HR 3565.
