Oppose ineffective censorship laws!

To: Rep. Carter, Sen. Ossoff, Sen. Warnock

From: A constituent in Hinesville, GA

August 19, 2025

I'm writing to urge you to oppose the Interstate Obscenity Definition Act, the SCREEN Act, The Kids Online Safety Act, the BlockBEARD Act, and all efforts to weaken Section 230 protections. Age verification has proven to a key tool for cyber criminals to exploit, making it easier for them to steal personal information and distribute it to sites that specialize in exploitation for profit. All the while, legitimate websites and information are being censored or blocked due to strict and vague laws like the UK'S Online Safety Act. In addition, payment processors have arbitrarily decided to censor content by blocking payments to goods they dislike, while continuing to support sites that actively allow grooming of minors, like Roblox. Age verification and 'harmful to minors' laws have only made it easier for predators to get what they want while freedom of expression is criminalized. Please oppose these ineffective laws and policies.
