Keep “Press 3” on 988 — Don’t Erase LGBTQ+ Youth Lifeline

To: Sen. McCormick, Sen. Fetterman, Rep. Mackenzie

From: A verified voter in Orefield, PA

June 19

On July 17, 2025, the federal government will dismantle the LGBTQ+‑specific “Press 3” option on the 988 suicide hotline—a service launched in 2022 that has helped nearly 1.3 million LGBTQ+ youth. This was created under the National Suicide Hotline Designation Act, signed by President Trump in October 2020, which included targeted support for high‑risk groups like LGBTQ+ youth. Eliminating an entire community’s lifeline is immoral. U.S. principles guarantee equal inclusion—we are not Nazi Germany. Your pledge to represent all of us must include vulnerable youth. Action: In Congress, support restoring funding or passing an amendment to reinstate the LGBTQ+ option. Checkpoint: Will you publicly back preserving the “Press 3” service?
