Support bold climate action to reach net-zero emissions

To: Sen. Cornyn, Sen. Cruz, Pres. Biden, Rep. Carter

From: A constituent in Leander, TX

December 19

The Biden administration's announcement of an ambitious new climate goal to reduce U.S. greenhouse gas emissions by 61% to 66% by 2035 is a crucial step in addressing the existential threat of climate change. This goal represents the boldest climate agenda in American history, unleashing American ingenuity and innovation to create good-paying jobs, affordable energy, cleaner air and water, and healthier environments for all. While the goal is non-binding, it provides a roadmap for reaching carbon neutrality globally and aligns with the Paris Agreement's aim to limit global warming to 1.5 degrees Celsius above pre-industrial levels. This goal builds upon the administration's efforts over the past four years to increase renewable energy sources, conserve public lands and waters, set new pollution-cutting standards, and sign climate investments into law. We must seize this opportunity to transform our nation for generations to come. Lowering our emissions is not only an environmental imperative but also an economic opportunity. By embracing clean energy and sustainable practices, we can create a thriving, resilient economy that benefits all Americans. The time to act is now, and this ambitious climate goal sets us on the right path.
