California, Oregon, and other states are now facing an unprecedented violation of their sovereignty through the federal deployment of National Guard units originating from Texas, California, Illinois, and potentially more to come. This action represents a direct affront to the Posse Comitatus Act of 1878, which restricts the use of the military in domestic law enforcement.
The intent behind these deployments appears to be the deliberate manufacturing of unrest to justify invoking the Insurrection Act, thereby expanding presidential authority far beyond its constitutional limits. Such actions not only endanger the safety of American citizens—they threaten the very foundation of state autonomy within our federal system.
Beyond the immediate constitutional crisis, these developments will severely undermine international confidence in the stability of the United States, likely triggering capital flight and economic disruption that will directly impact states like Pennsylvania.
I urge you to:
1. Publicly denounce the President’s actions as unconstitutional and dangerous.
2. Announce Pennsylvania’s solidarity with the governors of the affected states.
3. Lead the formation of a multi-state coalition to resist and challenge this overreach through all available legal and political means.
The moment demands clear leadership. The strength of our union depends on the defense of state sovereignty and the rule of law.
