The proposed executive order represents a dangerous overreach that would violate the civil liberties of unhoused individuals and those struggling with mental illness or substance abuse disorders. Forcibly rounding people up and institutionalizing them against their will is inhumane and unconstitutional. We must address the root causes of homelessness through increased affordable housing, mental health services, addiction treatment, and other supportive programs - not by criminalizing poverty and illness. This draconian approach would only breed more trauma and marginalization. I urge you to firmly oppose this misguided order and instead work towards compassionate, evidence-based solutions that uphold human rights and human dignity for all.
