I am writing as a deeply frustrated constituent regarding the ongoing government shutdown and its very real impact on everyday Americans.
While I understand that budget negotiations are complex, the continued failure to reach an agreement is unacceptable. The consequences of this shutdown are no longer abstract—they are disrupting lives, livelihoods, and basic services that millions of Americans depend on.
In particular, I am alarmed by the effects on the Transportation Security Administration (TSA). Cuts or disruptions to TSA operations impact virtually every traveler in this country. Air travel is not a luxury for many—it is essential for work, family obligations, and emergencies. Weakening TSA staffing or operations effectively restricts mobility and leaves Americans feeling stranded and unsupported.
At a time when people are already facing economic uncertainty, the federal government should not be adding to the burden by making travel more difficult, less secure, or unpredictable. This is not a partisan issue—it is a basic function of governance.
I urge you and your colleagues to put aside political differences, fulfill your responsibility, and pass a budget immediately. The American people expect and deserve a functioning government. Please act with urgency to end this shutdown and restore stability.
