An Open Letter

To: Rep. Ryan

From: A verified voter in Highland, NY

July 21

First, I urge the Congressmember to vote no on the NDAA (H.R. 8800). This is for three reasons: First, Section 219 remains included and Rep. Paulina Luna’s new amendment does nothing to fix the problem of integrating the US and Israeli militaries. That alone is a dealbreaker. Second, I vehemently oppose a new expenditure of 1.1 trillion dollars on the military, especially for a war that is illegal. Third, the White House is defying Congress’s War Powers Resolution requiring it to end military hostilities with Iran. Congress must use its power of the purse to force an end to this disastrous war. Oppose the NDAA! I also strongly oppose Republicans’ new reconciliation bill. There’s no way I want 73 billion dollars of taxpayer money going towards Trump’s illegal war, or 10 billion going for voter suppression. Finally, please ask the Congressmember to oppose H.R. 7008, the Stop Insider Trading Act. This bill is a weak attempt at banning congressional stock trading and includes restrictive voter ID language aimed at suppressing our voting rights. Thanks.
