I am urging you to vote YES—without delay— on the bipartisan bill led by Rep. Matt Bresnahan to extend the enhanced ACA premium tax credits for three years.
Failure to act will have immediate and serious consequences. If these enhanced subsidies are allowed to expire, millions of Americans will face sharp premium increases or lose coverage entirely. Among the hardest hit will be small business owners and self-employed workers—people who are already carrying enormous financial risk with little margin for error.
Many small business owners do not have access to employer-sponsored health insurance. They rely on the ACA marketplace to cover themselves, their spouses, and their employees. Without the enhanced subsidies, premiums will spike overnight, forcing owners to choose between health coverage and keeping their businesses afloat. Some will go uninsured. Others will pass costs on to customers, cut hours, or delay hiring—hurting local economies.
This is not theoretical. The expiration of these credits will raise costs immediately and destabilize the insurance marketplace. Small businesses are already under pressure from inflation, rising interest rates, and workforce shortages. Allowing health care costs to surge on top of that is irresponsible and avoidable.
This bill is clean, bipartisan, and time-limited. It provides certainty and breathing room for families and entrepreneurs while Congress works toward longer-term solutions. Health care affordability should not be held hostage to partisan gridlock.
Please act now. Vote YES on extending the enhanced ACA premium tax credits for three years and protect small business owners, workers, and families from needless harm.
