Too many bills are being passed with anti-LGBTQ ammendments and riders. The National Defense Authorization Act which just passed the Senate Armed Services Committee contains two amendments which openly discriminate against Transgender service members and our dependents. Gender affirming care is lifesaving healthcare, and I know the SCOTUS just overturned Chevron, so they don't think actual experts in these fields should be consulted, but medical professionals and Transgender people themselves can attest to the multitude of benefits accompanying access to Gender affirming care. To deny this care as a matter of policy is damaging to our troops and to our civilian population who are supposed to be protected by these troops. To write our care out of these acts is to undermine our full humanity. I doubt very much the military would write out coverage for Viagra or other Testosterone boosters for cisgender troops, so why this narrow focus on us and our care?
