The victims of Epstein’s crimes have endured unimaginable suffering. The public expects their leaders to safeguard their rights and protect them from further harm, not to witness evasive answers, procedural smoke screens, and the deliberate concealment of critical information. Each moment of obfuscation, each redaction, each defensive flourish represents a failure to uphold the law and a betrayal of public trust. Moreover, the circumstances of her appointment raise urgent legal and ethical questions. The integrity of the Attorney General’s office is not a matter of political convenience; it is the cornerstone of the rule of law. Allowing leadership that fails to meet even the most basic standards of accountability to occupy this office erodes confidence, emboldens misconduct, and signals to victims and citizens alike that the system can be manipulated without consequence. Congress must exercise its authority with urgency and rigor: conduct full, unflinching investigations, hold public hearings, demand the production of unredacted files wherever legally possible, and scrutinize the appointment process for any breach of law or principle. Half-measures, polite inquiries, or theatrical performances cannot suffice. The American people — especially those harmed by Epstein’s crimes — deserve nothing less than complete transparency and unyielding accountability. I expect you to act decisively and to communicate clearly to your constituents the steps you will take to ensure that no official, regardless of rank, remains above scrutiny.
