I'm still writing in opposition to the SCREEN Act, KOSA, IODA, BlockBEARD, KOSMA and I am urging caution going forward with Sammy's Law. These bills are only tailored for the surveillance and violation of the rights of children. The current FTC does not inspire confidence in remaining impartial or in working with civil rights and child safety groups to ensure that these bills don't encourage predators to spy on children. While Sammy's Law is an improvement, the FTC and the current administration would use this to endanger the privacy of minors even more by allowing data brokers to act as third parties and gather sensitive information. What they would do with the information is not certain. This concern not only needs to be addressed but amended so that malicious third parties aren't allowed to try to pass as law enforcement and that the FTC cannot use it to discriminate against the press.
