Protect Persons against AI power and profit Dear Servant of God’s children: I write to urge your support for critical legislation to establish robust guardrails on artificial intelligence and protect humanity from unbridled corporate hubris. As Senator Bernie Sanders recently detailed, Silicon Valley oligarchs are actively investing trillions of dollars into transhumanist fantasies, openly discussing replacing humanity with digital superintelligence or merging humans with machines.  All of the posturing by AI companies— such as advocating for digital personhood— is simply designed to enable those corporations to gain profit and power without any checks or protections for communities. These tech executives do not care about personhood, whether physical or digital; they merely use digital personhood as a fig leaf to halt regulatory oversight, evade public accountability, and protect their bottom lines. Instead of surrendering our future to billionaires who view people as mere data cogs, we should look to nations like China, which actively regulate AI development to serve the common good and hold powerful tech leaders accountable to social welfare. Every human person bears the divine image of God, endowed with an inherent dignity that transcends utilitarian calculations and corporate algorithms. When technology is weaponized to concentrate wealth and power in the hands of a privileged few while displacing workers and destabilizing communities, it directly violates our Creator's intent for human flourishing.  Please support legislation that places an immediate pause on advanced AI development, bans unregulated superintelligence, and subordinates technological power to the well-being of all people.
