Co-sponsor and push for a vote on H.R. 10174, the GRANITE Act. Rep. Michael Rulli introduced this bill on August 27, 2026, to stop foreign regulators like the UK's Ofcom from enforcing censorship orders against Americans. Between February 2025 and April 2026, Ofcom sent at least 197 notices to US companies demanding content restrictions — and only four were publicly refused. That's a foreign bureaucracy quietly rewriting what Americans can say online, with almost no resistance. The GRANITE Act fixes this with two tools: a shield that bars US courts from recognizing or enforcing foreign censorship judgments, and a sword that lets Americans sue in federal court for declaratory relief. It also closes the loophole Ofcom tried to exploit — claiming sovereign immunity to dodge a First Amendment lawsuit while simultaneously asserting British law applies on US soil. The Constitution does not bend to London. Congress should make that explicit.
