Co-sponsor SB 3474 to Bring Federal Safety Standards to Hemp Products

To: Sen. Fontana, Rep. Deasy, Gov. Shapiro

From: A verified voter in Pittsburgh, PA

November 2

Co-sponsor SB 3474, the Cannabinoid Safety and Regulation Act. The 2018 Farm Bill legalized hemp but left a patchwork of inconsistent state rules, and millions of Americans are now buying delta-8, delta-9, and delta-10 products with no federal guarantee of what's actually in them. This bill fixes that. It puts the FDA in charge of labeling, manufacturing standards, and potency limits, so consumers know exactly what they're getting. It requires laboratory testing, mandates accurate cannabinoid content disclosure on every label, and gives the FDA recall authority over adulterated or misbranded products. These are basic consumer protections that exist for almost every other product on store shelves. The cannabinoid market is not going away. The only question is whether it operates under rigorous federal oversight or continues in a regulatory vacuum where bad actors can sell contaminated or mislabeled products without consequence. Support SB 3474 and give the public access to hemp products they can actually trust.
