Since September 2, 2025, the Trump administration has conducted an illegal, undeclared, war in the Caribbean Sea and Pacific Ocean, killing scores of civilians by deploying drone strikes on boats they allege are carrying drugs. At no point have they offered proof of these claims. Members of Congress and experts in the laws of war say the strikes are illegal extrajudicial killings because the military is not permitted to deliberately target civilians — even suspected criminals — who do not pose an imminent threat of violence.
This series of at least 25 lethal military attacks has taken the lives of at least 95 people.
The administration has shared selective video of the attacks. President Donald Trump even posted a 29-second video clip of the September 2 boat strike on his Truth Social platform shortly after the operation ended.
What the released video didn’t show — confirmed by three government sources and a senior lawmaker — was that two men survived the initial attack and clung to the debris for about 45 minutes before a second strike was ordered to kill them.
The Justice Department’s Office of Legal Counsel claims that narcotics on the boats are lawful military targets. But even if this unusual theory is accepted, the military handbook specifically uses the example of firing on the shipwrecked as a clearly illegal order.
Experts say it’s a war crime, murder, or both.
Is the Pentagon covering up other possible crimes committed by U.S. armed forces during these attacks? The public has a right to know, and only with complete transparency will we learn the truth about these military operations.
The full video from the first attack as well as every subsequent strike is critical evidence that must be released to Congress, the media, and the American people.
Congress must demand the public release of all boat strike videos and evidence that led to those strike decisions now!
