I’m writing to beg you to support public broadcasting. Please don’t let NPR be defunded. I rely on public radio for real news with minimal bias, intelligent hosts, clear coverage, and understanding that unbiased isn’t the same as “fair and balanced”. One of the reasons we’ve ended up in the political mess we’re in is lack of public awareness and critical thinking. Infotainment that even admits “no rational person would take us seriously” is funded by cable subscriptions. Terrestrial radio stations are owned by aggregators who value entertainment and controversy over information. And politicians like mtg and Trump (who I’m cc’ing on this letter) either believe the lies, want to promote the lies, or don’t know the difference. Personally I believe public broadcasting should be 100% public funded. But at least funding should remain at current levels. Please support NPR and PBS. It’s no longer about Big Bird and Mr. Rogers - it’s about the future of informed democracy.
