It's the 4th of July. Trump's big, beautiful bill just passed the House. As of this morning, my 31-year-old daughter has lost her Medicaid. She works 10.5 hours/week as an aesthetician, suffers from crippling anxiety, takes meds for ADHD, and goes to therapy and PT for carpal tunnel. She survived an eating disorder and multiple incidents of sexual assault. She was on the ACA exchange until she qualified for Medicare, with which she was able to afford her meds and continue therapy. And now it is gone.
My husband and I have supported her and encouraged her and begged her to not give up hope. For what?
I hope the tax cuts (which we will probably never be eligible for) and the increase in money for ICE are worth the chaos you have just unleashed on families just like mine.
