Defund ICE and DHS, Prosecute Officials for Cruelty Against Haitian Asylum Seekers

To: Sen. Cornyn, Rep. Casar, Sen. Cruz

From: A constituent in Manor, TX

August 28

Defund ICE and DHS immediately, and launch a full criminal investigation into the officials responsible for the inhumane treatment of people seeking asylum. What is happening to Haitian men, women, and children who come to this country asking for help and sanctuary is not a policy disagreement — it is a human rights crisis, and the cruelty being inflicted on them is criminal. Haitian asylum seekers have a legal right to request protection. Detaining, abusing, and deporting them without due process is not enforcement — it is deliberate cruelty dressed up in bureaucratic language. These agencies have proven they cannot be reformed. They need to be defunded and dismantled, and every official who oversaw these abuses needs to face real prison time, not reassignments. This is happening in my name and with my tax dollars. Cut funding for ICE and DHS detention operations, support legislation to abolish these agencies, and demand a criminal investigation into those responsible. Silence on this is complicity.
