Block the Pentagon's plan to livestream the execution of Nidal Hasan on December 3. This is not justice — it is a spectacle, and it has no place in a democratic society. Public executions are what Iran does. What ISIS does. Senator Thom Tillis called it "beyond disgusting," and he's right. Even survivors of the Fort Hood shooting oppose broadcasting it.
This isn't about whether Hasan deserves the death penalty. He was convicted of killing 13 people and he will face that sentence. The question is whether we turn his death into a livestreamed event that terrorism experts warn will be used as recruitment material across the Middle East. Ned Price, who spent years working on counterterrorism, said this is "the surest way to spawn more radicalized zealots." The last public execution in this country was in 1936. We ended that practice for a reason.
Do not let the Pentagon normalize this. Demand that Secretary Hegseth reverse course before December 3.
