Subject: Concern Over Divisive Rhetoric and Religious Freedom

To: Sen. Fetterman, Rep. Mackenzie, Sen. McCormick

From: A constituent in Easton, PA

February 7

Subject: Concern Over Divisive Rhetoric I am writing to express my deep concern regarding recent rhetoric from the President that appears to frame Christianity as under attack while simultaneously promoting policies that marginalize non-Christian communities, particularly non-theists and Muslims, including Palestinians. This seems to be a calculated effort to consolidate power among Christian extremists who hold exclusionary views on women, LGBTQ+ individuals, and religious minorities. Throughout history, similar tactics—stoking division through religious identity—have led to devastating conflicts, from the Holy Wars to the rise of fascism in the 20th century. Our democracy is founded on the principle of religious freedom for all, not just for one dominant group. Yet, the rise in hate crimes and religious-based discrimination overwhelmingly comes from those who reject the constitutional promise of equality and pluralism. I urge you to take a stand against this growing trend of exclusionary nationalism disguised as religious victimhood. Our nation thrives when all citizens—regardless of faith or lack thereof—are protected under the Constitution. I hope you will advocate for policies that reinforce true religious liberty and reject the weaponization of faith for political gain. Thank you for your time and for your service to our district. I look forward to your response on how you plan to address this issue.
