Demanding Congressional Action on Weaponization of Federal Civil Rights Protections
I am a voting constituent writing to compel an immediate and rigorous congressional investigation into the executive branch’s blatant misuse of the Department of Justice’s Civil Rights Division. This administration is actively weaponizing anti-discrimination laws to dismantle crucial civil rights advancements, specifically targeting equal educational opportunities for students of color.
The Justice Department’s recent sham findings of discrimination against medical schools at UCLA and Yale represent a dangerous, ideologically driven distortion of federal law. By fixating on negligible, statistically insignificant differences in test scores while ignoring broader holistic application factors, the executive branch is systematically twisting laws intended to foster inclusion into tools of exclusion. This is a clear manifestation of a core white supremacist ideology designed to reverse decades of progress toward racial equity.
Concurrently, the administration has gutted the Department of Education’s Office for Civil Rights, slashing staff and abandoning thousands of legitimate student complaints. This calculated abandonment of legal obligations represents a breach of executive integrity.
Congress must fulfill its constitutional duty of oversight. I urge you to investigate this abuse of power, hold the executive branch accountable, and safeguard the civil rights of American students as the laws intended.
