Vote yes on the war powers resolution to end military operations in Iran. This conflict has dragged on for six weeks with no clear strategy, 13 Americans dead, hundreds wounded, and gas prices up more than a dollar per gallon. Trump promised this would last 4-6 weeks. He was wrong.
The April 29 deadline under the War Powers Resolution of 1973 is approaching. After that date, continued military action without congressional authorization is illegal. Iran still controls the Strait of Hormuz despite Trump's blockade plans, and the regime remains in power despite dozens of leaders killed. This isn't working.
Trump's Easter threats to destroy Iran's power plants and bridges and "wipe out a whole civilization" show he has no exit strategy. The administration is preparing to request up to $200 billion in supplemental Pentagon funding for a war Congress never authorized. Republicans like Rep. Cuellar and Rep. Landsman who initially supported strikes now back the resolution because the administration has failed to provide any coherent plan. End this conflict before more Americans die for nothing.
