Action Required on Israeli Settlers Blocking Children, Soldiers Suspected of Rape Returning to Service I am writing to demand action on three horrifying developments in Palestine documented this week alone. First, Israeli settlers blocked Palestinian children from reaching their school in Umm al-Khair village, erecting a fence across the path. These children—including siblings Hajar and Rashid Hathaleen—were prevented from attending class. This is not an isolated incident. Settlers are exploiting the regional war to seize land with no rules, as village council head Khalil Hathaleen stated. Armed men in unmarked trucks, including soldiers, fired tear gas at children trying to walk to school. Second, Israeli soldiers suspected of raping a Palestinian detainee can soon return to reserve service. There will be no accountability. No justice. The perpetrators of sexual violence against a detained Palestinian will likely face no consequences and may continue serving in the military. Third, the UK has arrested over 500 people at peaceful protests supporting Palestine, including elderly protesters and people with disabilities. The crackdown on pro-Palestine speech is not limited to the UK—it is happening across Western nations, including the United States, where activists face doxxing, surveillance, and professional retaliation. There is one hopeful note: a record number of Senate Democrats voted to block arms and bulldozer sales to Israel, reflecting growing frustration with Israel's actions. But the measures still failed. More pressure is needed. I demand that you: 1. Publicly condemn settler violence against Palestinian children and Israeli military impunity for sexual violence against detainees. 2. Support legislation blocking all arms sales to Israel until there is full accountability for human rights violations. 3. Oppose any crackdown on pro-Palestine speech and activism in the United States. The world is watching. History will judge those who remained silent.
