The recent reports of Elon Musk's allies gaining control of key government agencies like the Office of Personnel Management (OPM) and General Services Administration (GSA) are deeply concerning. It appears a group of young, relatively inexperienced engineers with ties to Musk's companies are now playing critical roles in his so-called "Department of Government Efficiency" project. Many of them seem to be in their early 20s or even teenagers, with little to no prior government experience. This unelected and unaccountable private takeover of sensitive government functions and data poses a grave risk to our democratic institutions and citizen privacy. Having individuals aligned with Musk's business interests accessing classified material, bypassing security protocols, and potentially gaining control over things like federal payroll systems is an unacceptable breach. We must uphold the principle of public governance being carried out by legitimate, vetted public servants - not corporate operatives. I urge you to take immediate action to investigate these disturbing developments and take all necessary measures to remove Musk's unqualified personnel from positions of power across federal agencies. Preserving the integrity of our government processes and institutions is paramount. We cannot allow the extremely wealthy to simply purchase control over the machinery of government for their own interests. Swift corrective action is needed to safeguard our democracy.
