An Open Letter
To: Sen. Durbin
From: A verified voter in Decatur, IL
November 11, 2025
I turned 18 in 1998, so I am not able to say I helped vote you into office. However, I have voted for you in every election since your 2004 race. Overall, I would say am pleased with how you have represented Illinois. Not as progressive as I would have preferred, at times, but we can't have everything we want.
That being said, I am deeply disheartened that you, and your 7 fellow lame duck Senators, caved to this administration at such a critical time. Your failure to protect the ACA is an embarrassment. If you won't fight for the good of your constituents, it seems like it is time to step aside and let Governor Pritzker appoint someone who will.
