I’m writing as I’m deeply concerned about the recent reporting regarding Elon Musk gaining access to the payment system of the United States Treasury.
Elon Musk is not an elected official. His role in our government has not been approved by Congress, nor does his role apparently have any Congressional oversight. And yet, reporting is stating that this private “citizen” has control over our federal payment system, a man who is not a natural born citizen, has secret conversations with Putin and has no Congressional oversight.
If Elon Musk isn’t acting on the direction of the President, he should be arrested and all of his assets should be confiscated by the government. If he is acting on behalf of the President, then this would appear to be yet ANOTHER overreach of the Executive Branch and an attempt to thwart the constitutional powers of Congress. Congress alone has the power of the purse, not the Executive Branch. This reeks of an attempt to subvert our Constitution and in fact, combined with the other actions of the Executive Branch, it appears to be an attempt to subvert our entire Democracy.
I urge you to work with your colleagues in Congress to oust Musk and his allies from the Treasury. Should Congress surrender the power of the purse, Americans lose their representative government and “taxation without representation is tyranny”.
