The Army gave General Dynamics $533 million to build an artillery factory. Taxpayers got zero usable shells.
According to a ProPublica investigation, the Texas plant was plagued by malfunctioning equipment, production failures, missed deadlines, and machines that workers said sometimes caught fire.
The Army eventually shut down two of the factory’s three production lines.
But General Dynamics hasn’t been required to simply give the money back.
WHY?!?
The Army says it is evaluating the company’s performance and may recover some of the loss through discounts on future orders.
Meanwhile, the same General Dynamics business unit has continued receiving billions of dollars in other Army contracts.
THIS IS CRAZY!!!!!
Congress need to INSIST that Secretary of the Army Daniel Driscoll recover EVERY TAXPAYER DOLLAR the government is legally entitled to reclaim from General Dynamics and prevent future waste.
