I am writing as a constituent from Georgia to express my deep concern and moral outrage over the treatment of immigrants at the South Louisiana ICE Processing Center, commonly referred to as “Alligator Alcatraz.” I am a Christian who has voted for both parties according to my conscience. Reports from advocates, journalists, and human rights organizations have revealed deeply troubling conditions at this facility that raise serious questions about due process and human decency.
Detainees at this facility are allegedly subjected to inhumane conditions, including prolonged solitary confinement, inadequate medical care, and a lack of access to legal representation. Many are held for months without a fair or timely hearing—essentially denied the basic legal protections guaranteed under the U.S. Constitution and international human rights law.
This situation is not only a moral failure; it is a direct affront to the values of justice and fairness that this country claims to uphold. No person—regardless of immigration status—should be treated with such disregard for their dignity and rights.
I urge you to demand immediate investigations into the conditions at this facility, to push for reforms that guarantee due process for all immigrants in detention, and to work toward the closure of facilities where human rights abuses are systemic and unchecked.
Our immigration system must reflect our nation’s values. The current reality at “Alligator Alcatraz” is indefensible and requires urgent attention.
Thank you for your time and for your service to the people of Georgia. I hope you will take swift and decisive action to address this injustice.
