I am writing to demand that you reject President Trump’s proposed Fiscal Year 2027 budget. It is a betrayal of the American people, plain and simple.
This budget slashes nondefense spending by $73 billion while exploding military spending by 42 percent — to $1.5 trillion. The President made his priorities crystal clear: “It’s not possible for us to take care of daycare, Medicaid, Medicare — we’re fighting wars.” That is not governing. That is abandonment.
The damage to real people would be severe. This budget kills the Low-Income Home Energy Assistance Program — cutting heat and air conditioning for 6 million households — guts WIC nutrition assistance for mothers and children, and allocates zero new dollars for child care. The Small Business Administration loses 67 percent of its funding. The National Science Foundation, 55 percent. The EPA, 52 percent. Your constituents — seniors, families, small business owners, researchers — will pay the price.
This is not inevitable. The President’s budget is a request. You have the power and the duty to say no. I am watching how you vote, and so are the people of this district. Do not let this pass.
