I urge you to oppose the nomination of Heidi Overton as FDA Commissioner. Overton's blind political loyalty and extremist views on vaccines and medication make her unfit to lead this agency. Overton currently serves on the White House Domestic Policy Council, where she has helped engineer the Trump administration’s reckless rollback of the childhood vaccine schedule—a decision that puts kids at risk of preventable disease. Even some Republicans are wary: Sen. Bill Cassidy (R-LA), a physician who chairs the committee overseeing her confirmation, has already expressed concerns that her lack of managerial experience makes her unprepared to run an 18,000-person agency already in crisis. The FDA doesn’t need another Trump loyalist, it needs people who put science before ideology.
