Reject economically harmful tariffs on Canadian imports
To: Sen. Tuberville, Sen. Britt
From: A constituent in Vestavia, AL
April 2
The proposed tariffs on imports from Canada will have severe economic consequences for American businesses and consumers. These misguided tariffs represent a massive tax increase that would cost the average U.S. household up to $2,000 per year in higher prices. The tariffs disrupt vital trade relationships and supply chains, undermining the livelihoods of workers across multiple industries. Canada is one of America's closest allies and largest trading partners. Imposing punitive tariffs on such a key ally makes no sense and runs counter to our national interests. These tariffs are opposed by a broad coalition of industry groups, labor unions, taxpayer advocates, and editorial boards who recognize the self-inflicted damage they would cause. It is critical to reverse course on this destructive trade policy before further harm is inflicted. Undoing the Canada tariffs will restore confidence, protect American jobs and industries, and uphold our commitments under existing trade agreements. I urge you to support the legislation to terminate these economically damaging and misguided tariffs on imports from Canada. Maintaining open and fair trade with our allies benefits all Americans.
