First, I demand you put an end to Trump’s unconstitutional and unwanted war with Iran. I strongly urge you to 1. Introduce and vote on another war powers resolution to exert Congress's constitutional authority over military conflict 2. Conduct aggressive oversight with public hearings on the Trump administration's actions in Iran 3. Refuse to pass any supplemental funding for this unauthorized military action 4. Support articles of impeachment and move to convict and remove Trump for his repeated defiance of the Constitution. Second, please oppose the confirmation of Markwayne Mullin and any other DHS official until the White House accepts the following significant, enforceable restraints on ICE and CBP . 1. Repealing the $75 billion slush fund for ICE and $65 billion slush fund for CBP 2. Significant reductions in funding for detention and removal 3. Ending family detention   4. Addressing the overcrowding, unsanitary conditions, lack of adequate food and medical care at detention facilities 5.  Securing access to counsel and due process for those held in detention facilities 6. Transparency at detention facilities and meaningful, enforceable penalties for obstructing congressional oversight 7. Allowing state and local governments to keep detention facilities out of their communities 8.  Limiting the use of guns and military equipment by ICE during civil actions and codifying a clear use-of-force standard for ICE and CBP agents 9. Restricting Border Patrol activity to the border and getting them out of our cities   10. Congressional investigations of every ICE and CBP agent who has broken the law and every death in their custody 11. Required federal cooperation with state and local investigations into ICE & CBP misconduct 12. Ending qualified immunity for ICE and CBP agents 13.  A restoration of the Bivens remedy, allowing us to file suits for damages against ICE and CBP agents violating our civil rights 14. Banning immigration agents from wearing masks and requiring they display clear identification 15. Banning immigration agents from conducting arrests or home searches without judicial warrants 16.  Banning ICE or Border Patrol enforcement at schools, day cares, hospitals, houses of worship, courthouses and other sensitive locations 17. Banning ICE and CBP from targeting people based on race, language, accent, place of employment or location at time of apprehension – no more Kavanaugh stops 18. Meaningful, enforceable penalties for violation of these bans 19. The removal of Deputy Chief of Staff and Homeland Security Adviser Stephen Miller, Border Czar Tom Homan, Acting ICE Director Todd Lyons and Customs and Border Protection Commissioner Rodney Scott from their jobs I am deeply outraged about the abuses revealed in the released Epstein files along with the DOJ’s ongoing protection of perpetrators, including Trump. Please demand the DOJ release all documents that are legally mandated. Finally, Americans should choose their own books! I don't want to see a national book ban! Vote NO on H.R. 7661 that ties federal education funding to restrictions on certain books and educational materials. It will pressure schools to remove titles that discuss identity, history, and lived experiences! Parents, not politicians, should guide their children’s reading. Vote NO on H.R. 7661 when/ if it comes to the Senate Thank you for your consideration on these important issues.
