Call to Action

To: Sen. Gallego, Sen. Kelly, Rep. Stanton

From: A verified voter in Chandler, AZ

January 25

I am writing as a constituent to demand immediate congressional action in response to ongoing executive misconduct, the normalization of state violence, and the collapse of meaningful oversight. The President has repeatedly advocated for, defended, and encouraged policies that result in serious harm, deprivation of rights, and loss of life. When executive rhetoric and policy jointly create an environment where violence by state actors is excused or rewarded, Congress has not only the authority—but the obligation—to act. The Constitution provides a clear remedy for such abuse of power: impeachment. Impeachment is not partisan retaliation. It is a constitutional safeguard against an executive who uses the powers of office to undermine civil liberties, due process, and the rule of law. Failure to pursue it under these circumstances signals that no line truly exists. In addition, Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) must be abolished. The agency has demonstrated, through years of documented abuse, deaths in custody, and systemic violations of human rights, that it is structurally incapable of reform. A government committed to liberty cannot maintain an agency that operates with such impunity. I am calling on Congress to take the following actions: • Initiate impeachment proceedings against the President for abuse of power and encouragement of unconstitutional conduct • Abolish ICE and replace it with immigration processes grounded in due process, transparency, and civilian oversight • Establish independent investigations into executive and agency misconduct • Release all non-classified federal investigative files whose continued suppression serves no legitimate public interest • Publicly reject any effort to shield officials or associates from accountability under the law Democracy does not survive on restraint alone—it survives on enforcement. When Congress refuses to act in the face of clear abuses, it becomes complicit in their continuation. I expect a clear response outlining your position and the actions you intend to take. History will remember who defended the Constitution and who chose silence.
