An Open Letter

Hello. I recently read that Senator Warnock has called for statewide data center moratorium. I FULLY SUPPORT this proposal. I understand that this is a hot issue right now, and the arguments both for and against are not entirely accurate in their statements. I regard this as a sign that more time is needed for people to become educated on the issues, for companies to understand they need to not only do more to clarify the issue but also regard their decisions as an investment in a community and to place their dollars and energy and efforts accordingly. It is not enough to build a giant computer warehouse that emits noise and other pollution and uses significant amounts of power for 10 jobs and some property tax. These companies need to demonstrate a value they present to the community that is commensurate with the burden and ask of their build. Finally, we have seen in Memphis, Louisiana, and even southern Georgia how these companies regard their rights and responsibilities to communities affected by their buildouts. It is simply not acceptable - especially given the amount of money being spent by these companies and their relative valuations and desire to go public. For these reasons and more, I URGE FULL SUPPORT of Senator Warnock’s proposed moratorium and we need to aggressively demand more for our communities and towns in Georgia or let them walk and put them all in Idaho.,
