As one of your constituents, I am furious.
I am a retired math teacher. I know how to calculate percentages, and I know when I am being lied to. My grocery costs have increased by 25 percent in the last year. Twenty-five percent. Anyone claiming that grocery prices are “down” is either incompetent or deliberately misleading the public.
While families and retirees are struggling to afford basic food, Donald Trump is out here lying daily about prices and simultaneously demanding $10 billion from the IRS and the Department of the Treasury to line his own pockets through frivolous lawsuits. That is our money. Taxpayer money. And it is obscene.
I expect you to say something publicly and immediately. Silence equals complicity. If prices are supposedly down, then explain why real households like mine are paying dramatically more. If you cannot or will not challenge these lies, then you are failing the people you represent.
We are not stupid. We see our receipts. Do your job and speak up today.
