STOP PUNISHING FAMILIES. UNTIE SNAP BENEFITS!

To: Sen. Schmitt, Sen. Hawley, Rep. Burlison

From: A constituent in Kirbyville, MO

November 7

The limitations and restrictions you place on the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) and other vital assistance programs are not only cruel, they are economically illiterate. We are demanding an immediate end to arbitrary rules and bureaucratic overreach that hurt American families who need help. We are specifically referring to technical rulings, such as the one prohibiting grocery stores from offering discounts to SNAP recipients, which prioritize a rigid interpretation of regulations over both basic humanitarian concerns and common sense. Stop treating essential family support as a liability. It is, in fact, one of the most effective and efficient investments of our tax dollars. • When a SNAP dollar is spent, it doesn't vanish. It instantly flows into our economy, buying food from American farmers and supporting jobs at local grocery stores, manufacturers, and transportation companies. • These programs are not a drain; they are a powerful economic catalyst that ensures immediate spending on basic goods, creating a vital surge of economic activity and job growth across the nation. Your constituents are watching. Every regulation that makes it harder for a struggling family to put food on the table is a regulation that undermines the very purpose of your office. We urge you to immediately protect and strengthen these programs. Stop using technicalities to restrict aid. Start prioritizing the economic stability and well-being of the American families you represent. This is a demand for common sense, compassion, and economic efficiency. Do better, or we will replace you.
