You've forgotten who got work for!

To: Sen. Moreno, Sen. Husted, Rep. Balderson, Pres. Trump

From: A verified voter in Reynoldsburg, OH

June 4

I am writing to ask a simple question: Have you forgotten who you work for? You were elected to represent the people of your district, not to serve as a rubber stamp for Donald Trump or any other political figure. Yet from where I sit, it appears that the concerns, needs, and voices of your constituents have taken a back seat to partisan loyalty and political self preservation. Many of us are struggling with rising costs, growing uncertainty, attacks on democratic institutions, and a government that seems increasingly disconnected from the people it was created to serve. Instead of standing up for your constituents, you appear more concerned with supporting whatever Donald Trump wants, regardless of the consequences for the country. I want to know why. Why do the interests of party leaders seem to matter more than the interests of the people who elected you? Why are you willing to remain silent when actions are taken that many Americans view as harmful to democratic norms, government accountability, and the rule of law? Your oath was to the Constitution and to the people you represent. It was not an oath of loyalty to a president, a political movement, or a wealthy donor class. Many voters are increasingly frustrated by elected officials who seem more interested in advancing their careers, protecting their access to power, and pleasing party leadership than in doing the difficult work of governing on behalf of their constituents. Whether that perception is fair or not, it is your responsibility to address it through your actions. The people of this district deserve independent representation, not blind allegiance. We deserve leaders who will speak honestly, challenge abuses of power regardless of who commits them, and put the interests of their constituents above political calculations. If you continue to ignore those responsibilities, do not be surprised when voters decide it is time for new leadership. Public office is a privilege, not an entitlement, and elections are how citizens hold their representatives accountable. I urge you to remember who sent you to Washington and who has the power to send you home.
