Pass Medicare for All to protect health coverage

To: Sen. Stabenow, Sen. Peters, Rep. Moolenaar

From: A constituent in Mount Pleasant, MI

December 7

The Medicare for All Act seeks to establish a national health insurance program to provide comprehensive protection against the costs of health care and related services. Key provisions include: - Providing universal entitlement to benefits for all U.S. residents, including dental, vision, hearing, mental health, substance abuse treatment, prescription drugs, long-term care services, and more. - Prohibiting cost-sharing like deductibles and copays, except potentially for some prescription drugs within limits. - Establishing a national health budget and transitioning to global budgets for institutional providers and fee-for-service for individual providers. - Prohibiting private insurance that duplicates the benefits covered under the program while allowing supplemental coverage. - Transitioning current federal health programs like Medicare, Medicaid, and others into the new Medicare for All program over 4 years. - Providing temporary options like lowering the Medicare age and a public option plan through the Exchanges until Medicare for All is implemented. The bill aims to achieve universal health coverage, improve access and affordability, and streamline administration while maintaining high quality care. It represents a major overhaul towards a single-payer system funded through the federal government. I urge you to pass the Medicare for All legislation to protect Americans from health insurance corporations that only care about profits.
