Investigate and Block the $927 Million White House Renovation Spending

To: Rep. DelBene, Pres. Trump, Sen. Murray, Sen. Cantwell

From: A verified voter in Bothell, WA

August 17

Demand a full investigation into the $927 million in taxpayer funds being spent on White House renovations and use every tool available to block this obscene misappropriation of public money. This isn't preservation — Harry Truman's complete structural reconstruction of the White House cost the equivalent of $72 million in today's dollars. Trump is spending more than twelve times that, not because the building is falling apart, but because he wants a monument to himself built on our dime. While nearly a billion dollars flows into gilded trim and vanity construction, pediatric cancer research is getting zeroed out, humanitarian food aid we already paid for is rotting in warehouses, and National Park Service funding is being cannibalized to pay for a Washington arch. These aren't abstract budget lines — they're kids in oncology wards, families in the cereal aisle doing math, and rangers watching trails crumble. The money being poured into this renovation was earned by working people who were promised it would go toward roads, science, parks, and feeding families. This is taxpayer theft dressed up as renovation. Investigate where every dollar is going, demand full public accounting, and fight to redirect these funds back to the programs that were gutted to pay for it.
