I urge you to remove Noem from her leadership of Homeland Security. The proposal to create a reality show competition for immigrants seeking U.S. citizenship demonstrates an alarming lack of judgment, empathy and respect for the immigration process. Reducing the solemn pursuit of citizenship to a public spectacle for entertainment value degrades human dignity and makes a mockery of our national values regarding immigration. Rather than embracing new Americans, this frames naturalization as a game show trial, setting the wrong tone about what it means to be American. The United States deserves leadership that upholds ideals of compassion and treats all people, including immigrants strengthening our social fabric, with the dignity they deserve. Noem's willingness to turn this milestone into a reality TV gimmick is unacceptable and unbecoming of her position's responsibilities. Her removal from this role is warranted.
