Protect Essential Commodities and Ban Executive Conflicts in Digital Assets

To: Rep. Bergman, Sen. Slotkin, Sen. Peters

From: A constituent in Beulah, MI

August 22

I am writing to demand urgent legislative and regulatory action to protect core public infrastructure and restore public trust in government ethics. First, water is a fundamental human right, not a financial bargaining chip or a leverage tool for private tech conglomerates. As ultra-wealthy investors acquire farmland, infrastructure technologies, and water patents, Congress must pass strict protections prohibiting essential municipal and agricultural water resources from being privatized, financialized, or treated as speculative leverage assets. Second, executive involvement in personal cryptocurrency platforms while holding public office poses severe ethics and market-manipulation concerns. Congress must enact laws strictly prohibiting high-ranking elected officials and executives from promoting, trading, or personally profiting from specialized digital assets, memecoins, or venture-backed crypto projects while in position to influence federal financial policy. I urge you to support legislation that secures essential human resources as non-commodified public utilities and penalizes self-interested trading in emerging financial markets.
