Strong Opposition to Proposed Rule – Schedule Policy/Career (Schedule F Revival)

To: Sen. Ossoff, Rep. Loudermilk, Sen. Warnock

From: A constituent in Woodstock, GA

April 23

I am writing to express my strong opposition to the Office of Personnel Management’s proposed rule titled “Improving Performance, Accountability, and Responsiveness in the Civil Service.” This rule, which effectively revives the dangerous and discredited Schedule F policy under a new name, would politicize the civil service and eliminate essential workplace protections for career employees. Federal employees who work on policy should not be converted into at-will employees, vulnerable to retaliation and political pressure. Accountability in government must not come at the cost of due process or merit-based hiring. This rule threatens the foundations of a fair, nonpartisan civil service and opens the door to corruption and loyalty-based employment. I urge OPM and federal leadership to withdraw this proposal immediately. Instead of undermining civil servants, we should be strengthening protections that support their integrity and dedication to public service. Start doing something to protect federal workforce, Georgia has a lot of them.
